Diablo 4: Players Achieve Unprecedented Damage with Overpowered Druid Build

As the launch of Season 1 for Diablo 4 approaches, players are pushing the boundaries of the game, striving to achieve the highest damage possible. Just five weeks post-launch, some players have already managed to hit enemies for billions of points of damage.

Diablo 4 streamer Moxsy recently set a new record for the highest damage ever in-game, hitting an astounding 957,957,504 points. However, this record was soon shattered when Moxsy broke through the billion barrier, achieving an incredible 1.8 billion hit. Not long after, a Diablo 4 YouTuber named Echohack posted a screenshot showing a 2.1 billion hit.

These astronomical damage numbers are far beyond what most Diablo 4 characters are currently capable of, and they allow players to eliminate the game's toughest elite enemies in an instant. So, how are these players achieving such high damage?

Moxsy uses a Druid Werewolf build known as "LIGHTNING SHRED 2.0," which allows the character to teleport infinitely to its enemies and make them "vulnerable". The Stormclaw aspect of this build is crucial as it deals additional lightning damage to the target and surrounding enemies on critical strikes with the Shred skill. Stormclaw scales the lightning damage in a way that seems to exceed the limits set by Diablo 4, through a mechanism known as "double dip" damage.

As hits in the billions start to make headlines, all eyes are on Blizzard to see how it will respond. Will this level of damage output be considered expected gameplay, or will it be deemed broken, necessitating a nerf or a fundamental change that limits double dip damage?

In the meantime, Diablo 4 players are eagerly watching the race to 3 billion. For those feeling burnt out by Diablo 4, Blizzard has advised players who have reached all their goals to take a break from the game ahead of the launch of Season 1, dubbed "Season of the Malignant," on July 20.
