Understanding Diablo 4 Season 1: Maximizing Progress and Overcoming Confusion

As Diablo 4 Season 1 is set to kick off on July 20, players are advised to log in with their most progressed character before starting their Season 1 journey. This approach, while seemingly confusing to newcomers, aligns with the tradition of previous Diablo games and is a common practice in the genre.

The Diablo franchise has always required a new character for each season, a concept that has left many new players puzzled. Some players have expressed discontent with this approach, while others are uncertain about what exactly carries over from one season to the next. To ensure maximum Renown progress transfer from the base game to Season 1 and subsequent seasons, players should log in with their most advanced character first.

This strategy was clarified during the recent Diablo 4 Developer Update stream. By logging in with the character that has the most progress before initiating a new character for Diablo 4 Season 1, players can guarantee a proper carryover of progress. This applies to existing characters as well. Players can start this process even before Season 1 begins, provided they log in after the planned July 18 update.

Misunderstandings within the community have led some players to believe that logging in to one of their Diablo 4 alternate characters before their main character would result in a loss of progress. However, this is not the case. It is crucial for players to remember to log in with their existing characters at some point after the July 18 update to avoid having to rediscover all the Altars of Lilith with their Season 1 character.

Diablo 4 Season 1 will serve as an intriguing test for the popular action-RPG. The game has been a massive hit so far, but as a live service title, it needs to consistently deliver high-quality new content to keep fans engaged for the long term. It is hoped that Diablo 4's seasonal content will be compelling enough to keep fans playing while they anticipate the two major DLC expansions currently in active development for the critically acclaimed game.

Diablo 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. As the game moves into its first season, players are encouraged to understand the mechanics of progress carryover and make the most of their existing characters before embarking on their Season 1 adventure.
